We are now taking submissions for the 2008 Straight Twisted Horror Screenplay Contest. In 2009 we are launching our own company which deals strictly with horror, and we are on the prowl for some good material to option. Also, you have the chance to win over $16,000 in cash and prizes, and no matter what, your screenplay will be read by at least 50 industry professionals who deal strictly with Horror.

There are three categories to choose from. Slasher, Creature Feature, and Supernatural. You can enter one, or all three to maximize your chances. Top four scripts will receive a paid trip to Los Angeles to attend Shriekfest 2008. If you have purchased a Horror Package, then you are allowed free entry!

To celebrate Memorial Day this year, all of the Hollywood Query staff got together at the Whaler in Venice Beach to kick off the day. We then ventured to a friend's house on on Superior Ave. for an evening cookout. Brews, burgers, dogs, and even the potato salad, as far as the eyes could see. Once the coals dwindled down to the final ember, some of us walked (some of us staggered) to the HQ2 (that's the code name for the Hollywood Query Head Quarters) to finish out the night with an extravagant house party.

We try to stay professional, even when partying and hanging out. We also really wanted to light off some fireworks, but being so dry around here, some fear was overcoming any thought of lighting a fuse. The night ended when the tubs of beer were empty, and when the sun started rising. Seven o'clock A.M., and only two hours before we began our work.... we decided to all call in on Tuesday. For those of you who made it to the Memorial Day party, we thank you for all your help in cleaning up. Don't forget, if you are a user of HollywoodQuery, we will be having a party July 4th in Venice Beach!

In order to beef up our staff a little more with entertainment experience, we have added another member with a background in talent management. May 2008, Kara Nuenan joined us at Hollywood Query to take assist in operations of our talent team. She will be assisting Kristy and Daniel in aiding those with all talent agent query packages and even more so, the new model query package we have put together.

Kara was born and raised in Nevada, just outside of Las Vegas. Both of her parents were involved in Casinos, with her mother being an executive with The Mirage, and her father working across the street in the security division at Harrah's. Kara continued her education at UNLV and graduated in 1999 with a masters in Entertainment Management. Over the next five years, she represented various stage and print talent in the greater Las Vegas area.

In 2004, the agency Kara was working for merged with another top talent agency and she was relocated to Los Angeles. She began representing higher profiled models, and an occassional actor or two with various agencies including some top companies in Beverly Hills. Publications she has had talent pictured in include : Maxim, FHM, Perfect 10, InStyle, Allure, and a lot other.

Kara contiues representing models, but indepedently so she can focus more on parenting. She also manages a handful of actors who are just breaking into the business. She resides in Santa Monica with her seven year old daughter, Alexis. If there is anything you need in the realm of talent, contact Kara.

With June a week away, we want that number doubled, maybe even tripled. Do not fear the "Unsolicited submissions not accepted", because people do accept those if you can wow them enough. Our goal is to getcha into Hollywood, or at least on the screen somewhere. Let us pave the way.
